It looks like you had fun with the effects. I wish there was more to see here. And why so monochromatic? Try to use some of your methods here to create a more interesting illustration.
Okay... It took me a sec. But I think I just got it. He's a soldier, right? His helmet isn't so obvious. It could just be some turban or funky-looking hat, or even hair.
