This is cute, but I wish there was more. And I think the illustration can be more effective without having to tell your audience what is happening with the type. With all the cartoons I watched as a kid, I'm surprised that I didn't turn into a Smurf myself.
I love mixing type and image in an illo, but the type looks thrown on in this one. This image bothers me because it lacks finess. I wish the lines were hand drawn, I wish the creature's pose weren't so static, I wish that I couldn't tell that you just drew one eye and reversed it for the other one. I think there is potential. The wings are colored really nice. I want to see what your next one is like before I give you a total critique.

Fun character, very cute. Can you make is say what you want to without words? Or make the text somehow part of the illustration?
